If
you were wondering what in the world is meant by “Marketing Programs”
let me briefly explain…
Several years ago utilities expressed an interest in creating new
revenue streams while providing some extra services for their
residential and commercial customers. This is when things like
electric water heaters began to be offered by utilities. Within a
short amount of time, it became clear to most utilities that one of the
most consistent concerns and problems that needed to be solved for
their customers was protection from surge damage. That’s where Equity
quickly joined with utilities to provide the products necessary to
address the concern. Coincidentally, that is when the concept of
creating revenue streams evolved in the minds of our customers. In a
short period of time we added a full-time product specialist, myself,
to our staff and negotiated some attractive deals with manufacturers.
This became our first entry in this area… Marketing Programs… and has
proven to be a valued service for our customers.

Let me give you a flavor for the kinds of Programs we are focusing
on in recent months…
 Generator
Transfer Switch for the Residential Market:
The next generator transfer switch, TRANSCONNECT from PSP…
Providing power to the whole home.
This device is a great solution to the dangers associated with
back-feed coming onto power lines during storm restoration. It
also provides conveniences for the homeowner.
Unlike other transfer switches that install inside of the home,
feeding a sub panel of 10-16 breakers, the TRANSCONNECT installs
outside on your electric meter and feeds the entire electrical
system. This gives a homeowner the flexibility to rotate their
loads as their needs change, instead of being stuck with a few
circuits.
There are four models available to handle generators from 3.5kW
up to 50kW. The 50Amp version comes with a 30Amp or 50Amp plug
for ease of connecting your generator with a cord. The 100Amp,
135Amp and 200Amp versions need to be hardwired.
All versions have an over/under voltage sensor to protect your
home from possible erratic generator voltage.
All versions now have built in surge protection to protect them
from surges.
Installation time in most cases is 30-45 minutes, a major time
saver over the traditional 5-8 hours.
Fits all 200Amp meter cans.

the Residential Market:
Equity teamed up with PSP
Products to offer a solution for residential “whole home” surge
protection. One of the primary components of the Program is our
warranty coverage, which provides complete repair or replacement if a
surge strikes. Our Program includes ALL electrical appliances and
electronic equipment typically found in homes.

All the utility has to do is
install one of the pre-packed packages.
|
|
Their customer benefits from $1,000
worth of coverage to repair or replace any electronic or electrical
product, so long as it was feeding off of the electrical panel that
was being protected from surges.

Our program even covers well pumps,
2-prong outlets, security systems and detached garages.
|
|
The surge protector does not have
to fail in order to qualify for coverage, which hasn’t always been the
case.

|
This is a hassle-free program that
puts customers first.
|
|
No deductible - and no depreciation
applied to older appliances, etc.
|
|
All claims are promptly paid – our
goal is to settle claims within 10 days of receipt of properly
completed and filed customer claim packages.

Utilities get access to a secure
area on PSP’s web site to follow the claim process, which allows them
to find answers that address customer concerns.
